Ghana’s Minister for Youth and Sports, Kofi Adams, has paid a courtesy call on the Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, to seek his blessings and traditional support ahead of a series of major international sporting events involving the country.
The visit, which took place at the Ga Mantse Palace in Accra, forms part of efforts by the Ministry to engage key traditional authorities and rally national unity as Ghana prepares to participate in high-profile competitions on the global stage.
During the meeting, the Sports Minister emphasized the importance of spiritual and cultural backing in complementing technical preparations for athletes and national teams. He noted that beyond physical training and logistics, the support of traditional leaders plays a vital role in inspiring confidence and fostering national pride.
“We are here to seek your blessings and guidance as we prepare to represent Ghana in major international competitions. Your prayers and support are important in motivating our athletes to excel,” the Minister stated.
In response, the Ga Mantse welcomed the delegation and commended the Ministry for recognizing the role of traditional institutions in national development, particularly in sports. King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II assured the Minister of his full support, pledging prayers for the success of Ghanaian athletes and teams in their upcoming assignments.
He also urged sports administrators to prioritize discipline, unity, and proper management to ensure that Ghana regains its strong footing in international sports.
