The Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Peter Boamah Otokunor, has toured Bouna Farms owned by the party’s National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, as part of efforts to promote agribusiness development and encourage youth participation in agriculture.

The visit formed part of Otokunor’s broader engagement with agricultural initiatives aimed at showcasing the potential of commercial farming as a driver of economic growth and job creation.

During the tour, Dr. Otokunor inspected various farming activities at the facility, including crop cultivation and livestock production systems. He commended the scale and organisation of operations at the farm, describing it as a practical example of how agriculture can be modernised to improve productivity and profitability.

He noted that investments in agribusiness remain critical to addressing unemployment, particularly among young people, and urged stakeholders to take advantage of opportunities within the sector.

Dr. Otokunor further emphasised the need for increased support for local farmers through improved access to credit, technology, and extension services, stressing that such interventions would help transform agriculture into a more attractive venture for the youth.

For his part, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah highlighted the importance of agriculture in national development and encouraged more individuals and institutions to invest in farming. He explained that Bouna Farms was established not only as a commercial venture but also as a demonstration of the viability of large-scale farming in Ghana.

He expressed optimism that with the right policies and support systems, agribusiness could play a major role in strengthening Ghana’s economy and reducing dependence on imports.

The visit ended with both leaders expressing commitment to promoting agricultural development and encouraging more youth involvement in the sector.
