The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts has officially distanced itself from the upcoming Karnival Kingdom Festival, clarifying that it has no involvement in the planning, endorsement, or execution of the event.
In a statement issued amid growing public attention surrounding the festival, the Ministry explained that although the event has been widely linked to the tourism sector, it was neither organised nor approved by the Ministry or any of its agencies.
Officials stressed that the Ministry had not entered into any partnership agreement with the organisers and should therefore not be associated with any promotional activities, financial arrangements, or operational decisions connected to the festival.
The clarification follows increasing discussions on social media and within sections of the entertainment industry regarding the festival’s branding and perceived affiliation with government tourism initiatives.
According to the Ministry, the statement became necessary to prevent misinformation and to ensure the public is properly informed about the institution’s official programmes and endorsed cultural events.
“The Ministry wishes to state categorically that it is not affiliated with the Karnival Kingdom Festival in any capacity,” portions of the statement reportedly indicated.
The Ministry further advised the public, sponsors, and stakeholders to independently verify claims of government endorsement before engaging with private events promoted under tourism or cultural branding.
While distancing itself from the festival, the Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to supporting credible tourism and creative arts initiatives that align with national development goals and promote Ghana’s cultural heritage responsibly.
The development has sparked conversations within the entertainment and tourism sectors, with some industry observers calling for clearer regulations on the use of national tourism branding in private entertainment events.
Organisers of the Karnival Kingdom Festival are yet to publicly respond to the Ministry’s statement at the time of reporting.
