A 25-year-old Ghanaian, Israel Kamoah Ashitei, has been found dead in South Africa under disturbing circumstances that have sparked widespread concern and calls for a full-scale investigation.

Ashitei, a graduate of Accra Technical University, reportedly travelled to South Africa in late March 2026 on what was described as an opportunity involving a football match and potential job prospects. However, his trip ended tragically just days after his arrival.

According to reports, the young man left Ghana on March 25, 2026, after being linked to a travel arrangement allegedly facilitated by an individual identified as Edith. He was reportedly advised to keep details of the trip confidential, raising early suspicions among family members after his death.

Before his death, Ashitei is said to have sent a troubling message to a relative, sharing the contact details of the person who arranged his trip and urging that she be held responsible if anything happened to him. The message has since become a key piece of evidence in the unfolding case.

He was later reported dead on March 30, 2026, just five days after arriving in South Africa. Initial accounts suggested that a postmortem examination had been conducted in South Africa to determine the cause of death.

However, the case took a more alarming turn when his body was repatriated to Ghana. Upon arrival, family members alleged that some of his vital organs—including the heart, lungs, and liver—were missing. This discovery has fueled suspicions of possible organ harvesting and intensified demands for justice.

Further deepening concerns, CCTV footage reportedly showed Ashitei being dragged away following an altercation shortly before his death. The footage has raised serious questions about whether he may have been attacked or abducted.

The family initially reported the matter to the police, but dissatisfaction with the handling of the case at the local level has led them to escalate it to higher authorities, including the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). They are calling for a comprehensive and transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

The incident has triggered public outrage, with many Ghanaians demanding accountability and stronger protections for citizens travelling abroad. The case also highlights growing fears about transnational crime, including alleged human trafficking and organ harvesting networks.

Authorities in both Ghana and South Africa are now under pressure to collaborate and uncover the truth behind the young man’s death, as his family continues to seek justice.
