The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has distributed a fleet of vehicles to its regional football associations and key technical units as part of efforts to strengthen football administration and development across the country.
The initiative was carried out under the FIFA Forward Programme, a flagship project by world football governing body FIFA aimed at supporting member associations with funding and logistics to improve infrastructure and operations.
At a brief ceremony to hand over the vehicles, GFA officials said the move is designed to enhance mobility, coordination, and efficiency among regional bodies and technical departments. The beneficiaries include Regional Football Associations (RFAs) as well as units responsible for refereeing, coaching education, and grassroots football development.
According to the GFA leadership, the lack of reliable transportation has long been a challenge for regional administrators, often hindering their ability to effectively organize competitions, monitor clubs, and carry out developmental programmes. The newly distributed vehicles are expected to address these challenges by enabling officials to travel more easily within their jurisdictions.
Officials emphasized that the intervention forms part of a broader strategy to decentralize football administration and ensure that development reaches all parts of the country. By equipping regional and technical units with the necessary logistics, the GFA aims to improve talent identification, enhance referee training, and strengthen grassroots structures nationwide.
The association also reiterated its commitment to transparency and accountability in the use of funds received under the FIFA Forward Programme, noting that all projects are subject to strict monitoring and evaluation processes.
Stakeholders within the football community have welcomed the initiative, describing it as a practical step toward improving the operational capacity of football administrators and supporting the growth of the sport at all levels.
