The GaDangme Queen Mothers have paid glowing tribute to the philanthropic arm of the McDan Group, describing its “Torchbearer of Hope” initiative as a transformative force bringing relief and empowerment to vulnerable communities across Ghana.
At a colourful ceremony attended by traditional leaders, community stakeholders, and representatives of the foundation, the Queen Mothers commended the initiative for its consistent support in areas such as education, healthcare, and youth development. They noted that the programme has become a beacon of hope, particularly for women and children in underserved GaDangme communities.
Speaking on behalf of the Queen Mothers, a senior traditional leader highlighted the importance of corporate bodies stepping up to complement government efforts in national development. She praised the McDan Group for demonstrating a deep commitment to social responsibility, adding that its interventions have had a direct and lasting impact on livelihoods.
“The Torchbearer of Hope is not just a name; it reflects real change in our communities. We have seen improved access to basic needs and opportunities for our young people, especially girls,” she said.
The Queen Mothers further used the occasion to call on other corporate institutions to emulate the example set by the McDan Group, stressing that partnerships between traditional authorities and private organisations are key to sustainable development.
A representative of the McDan Group expressed gratitude for the recognition, reaffirming the company’s dedication to uplifting communities. According to the representative, the Torchbearer of Hope initiative will continue to expand its reach, with plans to introduce more programmes targeting education, entrepreneurship, and social welfare.
The event concluded with a symbolic presentation and cultural performances, underscoring the strong bond between the GaDangme traditional leadership and the corporate sector in driving progress and hope for future generations.
