The Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has promoted a number of senior officers within the Ghana Police Service, urging personnel to step up their professionalism and work collectively to make Ghana as safe as some of the world’s most advanced countries.
The promotions, which form part of ongoing efforts to strengthen leadership and improve operational efficiency within the Service, were announced during a brief but significant ceremony attended by top police officials and other stakeholders. The move is expected to boost morale among officers while reinforcing discipline and commitment across all ranks.
Addressing the newly promoted officers, IGP Yohuno emphasized that their elevation comes with greater responsibility and higher expectations. He challenged them to lead by example, uphold integrity, and ensure that their commands deliver results that inspire public confidence.
He noted that modern policing requires a combination of professionalism, technology, intelligence-led operations, and strong community engagement. According to him, the vision of the Police Administration is to position the Ghana Police Service as a world-class institution capable of ensuring safety and security comparable to that of advanced nations.
The IGP further urged officers to remain committed to protecting lives and property, stressing that public trust is earned through consistent, fair, and transparent law enforcement practices. He also highlighted the need for officers to adapt to evolving security challenges, including cybercrime and organized criminal activities.
Some of the promoted officers expressed gratitude for the recognition and pledged to justify the confidence reposed in them by the Police Administration. They assured the leadership of their readiness to contribute to the transformation agenda of the Service.
The promotion exercise is part of broader reforms within the Ghana Police Service aimed at enhancing capacity, improving service delivery, and ensuring a safer environment for all citizens.
