The Accra High Court has granted bail in the sum of GH¢100,000 to Kwame Baffoe Abronye, popularly known as Abronye DC, following his appearance before the court over a pending legal matter.
According to proceedings in court, the outspoken political figure was admitted to bail with conditions requiring him to provide sureties as investigations and legal processes continue. The ruling has since sparked public discussion among supporters and critics, given Abronye DC’s prominent role in Ghana’s political landscape and his often controversial public commentary.
Lawyers representing Abronye DC argued that their client was prepared to cooperate fully with the court and posed no flight risk. The defence further appealed for bail on the grounds that the accused is a known public figure with a fixed place of residence and significant community ties.
The prosecution, however, is said to have outlined concerns linked to the case while requesting the court to impose strict conditions to ensure his availability throughout the trial process.
After listening to arguments from both sides, the court granted the GH¢100,000 bail and adjourned proceedings to a later date for the continuation of the case.
News of the ruling quickly spread across social media, where many Ghanaians shared mixed reactions. While some supporters described the bail decision as fair and expected, others insisted the legal process should be allowed to proceed without political interference or public pressure.
Abronye DC, known for his vocal defence of the New Patriotic Party and frequent commentary on national issues, remains one of the most talked-about political communicators in the country. The latest court development is therefore expected to attract continued public and media attention in the coming days.
