The 2026 edition of Women of Valour has officially been launched, marked by powerful testimonies from survivors of abuse who bravely shared their stories in a moving and emotional ceremony.
The launch event, held in an atmosphere of reflection and resilience, brought together advocates, community leaders, survivors, and members of the public committed to championing the rights and protection of women and girls.
Several survivors took to the stage to recount their experiences of domestic violence, sexual abuse, emotional trauma, and societal stigma. Their testimonies underscored the urgent need for sustained advocacy, stronger support systems, and justice for victims of abuse.
Platform to Amplify Voices and Promote Healing
Organisers described Women of Valour 2026 as more than just an event, noting that it serves as a platform to amplify the voices of survivors while promoting healing, empowerment, and systemic change.
According to the conveners, this year’s edition will focus on strengthening community awareness, expanding access to psychosocial support, and pushing for stricter enforcement of laws that protect women and vulnerable persons.
They emphasized that many survivors continue to suffer in silence due to fear, shame, and lack of institutional support. The initiative, they said, seeks to create safe spaces where survivors can share their experiences without judgment.
Call for Collective Action Against Abuse
Speakers at the launch called on government agencies, civil society organisations, traditional leaders, and religious institutions to work together in combating gender-based violence.
They stressed that abuse in all its forms remains a pressing social challenge and urged stakeholders to invest in prevention strategies, education, and survivor-centered services.
The event concluded with a renewed commitment from participants to stand in solidarity with victims and ensure that perpetrators are held accountable.
As Women of Valour 2026 unfolds, organisers hope the stories shared will inspire courage among other survivors to speak out and seek support, while mobilising communities to take decisive action against abuse.
