The Ministry of Youth and Sports has dismissed reports suggesting that it sponsored Ghanaian football fans to travel to Germany for the recent international friendly involving the Black Stars.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the Ministry described the claims as “unfounded and misleading,” emphasizing that no public funds were used to facilitate fan travel to the match. The statement clarified that all arrangements for attending the game were entirely at the expense of the supporters themselves or through private initiatives.

The Ministry further stressed its commitment to promoting sports and supporting national teams, but noted that it has clear guidelines regarding the use of public resources. “While we continue to encourage fan support for our teams, it is important to dispel misinformation suggesting that the Ministry funds such trips abroad,” the statement added.

This clarification comes after social media reports circulated claiming that a group of Ghanaian supporters had been sponsored by the government to attend the Black Stars’ friendly against Germany. The Ministry insisted that these reports were inaccurate and urged the public and media outlets to verify information before dissemination.

Officials also reaffirmed their dedication to developing grassroots sports, improving facilities, and providing support for athletes and teams within the country. They encouraged fans to continue backing the national teams in constructive ways, while emphasizing responsible reporting of sports-related news.

The Ministry concluded by calling on all stakeholders to focus on the development of sports in Ghana rather than spreading unverified claims that could mislead the public.
