A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Milton Keynes, Richmond Mensah, has officially announced his intention to contest for the position of Chairman of the party’s UK Branch, pledging to provide transparent, honest, and results-driven leadership.
Mr Mensah made the declaration during a meeting of the party’s Luton Chapter, where he explained that his decision to run for the position is rooted in his many years of active service and dedication to the party both in Ghana and in the diaspora.
According to him, his long-standing involvement in the party’s activities at various levels has given him the experience and understanding required to lead the UK branch effectively at what he described as a critical moment for the party.
“My decision is grounded in my many years of dedicated service to the party and a strong track record of commitment both in Ghana and abroad,” he said while outlining the motivation behind his bid.
Mr Mensah emphasised that leadership within the party should be anchored on proven service, integrity, and a credible track record rather than mere promises. He indicated that his leadership would focus on strengthening unity among members and ensuring that the UK Branch remains vibrant and effective in supporting the party’s broader objectives.
Touching on the future of the party, he stressed the importance of unity as the NPP prepares for the 2028 general elections, urging members of the branch to rally behind the party’s flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
“In all of these, we must unite as a party behind the flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia. It is only unity that can send us back to power. I will lead the unity agenda in this branch if elected chairman,” he stated.
Mr Mensah further pledged to remain faithful to members of the party and to work diligently to ensure the continued growth and success of the NPP’s UK Branch. He also described himself as a leader who values truth, transparency, and accountability in leadership.
Concluding his announcement, he appealed to delegates and members of the NPP UK Branch to support his candidacy, expressing confidence that his leadership would strengthen the party’s diaspora structures and position it strongly for future political success.
If elected, Mr Mensah said he would prioritise unity, effective mobilisation of members, and transparent leadership to help consolidate the influence of the NPP’s UK Branch within the party’s global network.
