The Ghana Police Service has intercepted a truck transporting more than 3,000 slabs of suspected narcotic substances in a major anti-drug operation, leading to the arrest of two individuals for allegedly attempting to bribe officers at the scene.
According to police sources, the truck was stopped during a routine intelligence-led operation. A thorough search of the vehicle uncovered the large consignment of suspected narcotics concealed within the cargo. The driver and his accomplice were immediately taken into custody for questioning.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects allegedly offered a substantial sum of money to officers in a bid to evade arrest and secure the release of the vehicle and its contents. The officers rejected the offer and proceeded to detain the suspects on charges including possession and transportation of suspected narcotic drugs, as well as attempted bribery of a public officer.
The seized substances have been handed over to the appropriate authorities for forensic examination to confirm their composition, while the truck has been impounded as investigations continue.

Police say the operation forms part of intensified efforts to clamp down on drug trafficking and related criminal activities across the country. They have reaffirmed their commitment to upholding integrity within the service and ensuring that individuals involved in narcotics trade face the full rigours of the law.
The suspects are expected to be arraigned before court once investigations are completed.
