Law enforcement authorities have dismantled a suspected human trafficking network operating in Pokuase, rescuing several victims and arresting key suspects. The operation, led by the Ghana Police Service in collaboration with anti-trafficking units, targeted multiple safe houses linked to the syndicate.
Officials revealed that the group allegedly lured vulnerable individuals with promises of employment and education abroad, only to exploit them for forced labor and other illegal activities. Police say the syndicate’s activities had reportedly spanned several months, involving both local and international connections.
“The safety and dignity of our citizens are paramount,” a senior police official stated, adding that investigations are ongoing to identify additional members and networks. Recovered evidence includes travel documents, communication devices, and financial records used in orchestrating the trafficking operations.
Human rights groups have lauded the swift action, calling it a critical step in curbing human trafficking in Ghana. Authorities urge the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to help prevent further exploitation.
