A fuel tanker explosion at Potsin Junction has caused widespread panic and destruction, with dramatic scenes captured in photos circulating on social media.
The incident occurred at Potsin Junction, where the tanker is reported to have caught fire before exploding, sending thick plumes of black smoke into the sky. Eyewitnesses say the explosion was preceded by a loud blast that shook nearby buildings and drew residents and motorists into a frantic rush for safety.

Images from the scene show the charred remains of the tanker, burnt-out vehicles, and debris scattered across the road. Flames engulfed parts of the surrounding area, with some nearby structures also affected by the intense heat.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service were quickly dispatched to the scene and worked to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading further. Their swift intervention is believed to have averted an even more catastrophic outcome.

Emergency responders, including police and ambulance services, were also present to assist victims and control traffic in the area. Several people are reported to have sustained injuries, though the full extent of casualties is yet to be officially confirmed.
Authorities have urged the public to stay away from the area as investigations begin into the cause of the explosion. Road users have also been advised to use alternative routes while clearance and safety assessments are ongoing.
The explosion adds to growing concerns over fuel tanker safety and road transport risks, particularly along busy highways where such incidents can have devastating consequences.
