Renowned politician and outspoken commentator, Dr. Arthur Kennedy, has stirred fresh political debate after openly declaring that Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO, was not a good choice for running mate.
Speaking candidly on current political developments, Dr. Kennedy argued that the selection of NAPO failed to add the needed political value to the ticket, insisting that the decision neither broadened electoral appeal nor strengthened public confidence ahead of the elections.
According to him, a running mate is expected to complement the flagbearer by balancing weaknesses, attracting undecided voters, and expanding the party’s support base across regions and demographics. In his view, NAPO’s nomination did not achieve these strategic objectives.
Dr. Kennedy further noted that while NAPO is known for his strong personality and experience in public office, those attributes alone were insufficient to justify his selection at such a critical political moment. He suggested that the party missed an opportunity to project a more unifying and voter-friendly image.
His remarks have since triggered mixed reactions within political circles, with some party supporters defending NAPO’s competence and track record, while others agree that a different choice might have resonated better with the electorate.
As the political landscape continues to evolve, Dr. Arthur Kennedy’s comments add to the growing scrutiny over key campaign decisions and their potential impact on the party’s fortunes in the upcoming elections.
