The Minority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has called for a full and transparent investigation into the recent air crash reported near Tema, stressing the need for accountability and public confidence in the findings.
According to him, incidents involving aircraft are matters of national concern and must be handled with the highest level of openness and professionalism. He noted that a thorough probe will not only establish the exact cause of the crash but also help prevent similar occurrences in the future.
Mr Afenyo-Markin urged the relevant aviation and security authorities to ensure that the investigation is conducted independently and that its outcome is made public. He said transparency in the process would reassure Ghanaians that safety standards within the country’s aviation sector remain a top priority.
The Minority Leader further extended his sympathies to the families of those affected by the incident and commended emergency responders who quickly moved to the scene to manage the situation and provide assistance.
He also called on government agencies responsible for aviation oversight to cooperate fully with investigators, adding that Parliament may take a keen interest in the matter to ensure that all necessary steps are taken to strengthen safety protocols.
Authorities are expected to begin detailed assessments of the crash site while aviation experts work to gather evidence, review flight data, and determine the circumstances that led to the accident. The findings, once completed, are anticipated to guide future policy decisions and operational improvements within Ghana’s aviation industry.
