The Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, has welcomed the restoration of peace in the Sunyani Traditional Area, describing the development as a major step toward strengthening stability and development in the region.
Speaking during a visit to the area, the minister commended traditional authorities, community leaders and residents for their commitment to dialogue and reconciliation following recent tensions that had threatened the peace of the community.
According to him, the return of calm to the traditional area demonstrates the power of unity and cooperation in resolving disputes and maintaining harmony within communities.
“I am pleased that peace has been restored in the Sunyani Traditional Area. Stability is essential for development, and when communities are peaceful, it becomes easier for government and other stakeholders to implement projects that benefit the people,” he said.

The minister emphasised that the government places high value on the role of traditional authorities in maintaining peace and promoting development at the local level. He therefore encouraged chiefs and elders to continue working closely with state institutions to address concerns before they escalate into conflicts.
The Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, he noted, remains committed to supporting peaceful coexistence among communities across the country through mediation, dialogue and collaboration with traditional leaders.
He further urged residents of the Sunyani and surrounding communities to safeguard the peace that has been achieved and avoid actions that could reignite tensions.
The minister also highlighted the importance of peace in attracting investment and promoting socio-economic growth in the Bono Region. According to him, a stable environment encourages business activity, improves local governance and enhances the overall well-being of residents.
Traditional leaders in the Sunyani Traditional Area expressed appreciation for the government’s intervention and the minister’s visit, noting that dialogue among stakeholders played a crucial role in resolving the dispute.
They reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining peace and unity within the traditional area and pledged to continue working with government authorities to promote development.
Residents have also welcomed the return of calm, expressing hope that the renewed sense of stability will allow normal economic and social activities to resume fully.
