The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has expressed confidence that the Greater Accra Region is showing clear signs of becoming a strong electoral base for the opposition party in future elections.
According to him, recent political developments and growing public engagement with the NDC across the region indicate that residents are increasingly aligning with the party’s vision for governance and national development.
Speaking at a party engagement with grassroots supporters in Accra, Mr. Asiedu Nketia noted that the NDC has intensified its outreach efforts across communities in the region, a move he said is gradually strengthening the party’s political presence.
He explained that the leadership of the party has deliberately prioritised mobilisation at the constituency and ward levels to reconnect with voters and address issues affecting residents.
“From what we are seeing on the ground, the signs are clear that the people of Greater Accra are ready to deepen their support for the NDC,” he said. “Our structures are becoming stronger and the enthusiasm among the grassroots is encouraging.”
Mr. Asiedu Nketia emphasised that the party’s strategy includes strengthening its internal structures, empowering constituency executives, and ensuring that the concerns of ordinary citizens are reflected in the party’s policy proposals.
He further indicated that the NDC is committed to presenting what he described as practical solutions to the country’s economic and social challenges, which he believes will resonate strongly with voters in urban regions such as Greater Accra.
The NDC Chairman also urged party members to remain united and focused on grassroots mobilisation as the party prepares for upcoming political contests.
“We must continue to work together, engage the communities and demonstrate that the NDC remains the party that listens to the people and understands their needs,” he stated.
Mr. Asiedu Nketia added that the leadership of the party will continue to support regional and constituency executives to ensure that the party maintains a strong presence across all parts of the region.
The National Democratic Congress has in recent months intensified its political activities across the Greater Accra Region, with party leaders frequently engaging youth groups, local organisers and community stakeholders as part of efforts to strengthen its grassroots base.
