President John Dramani Mahama has announced plans by the government to complete 23 major road projects across the country, with a combined value of GHS 15 billion.
According to Mr. Mahama, the projects, which were left unfinished due to financial and contractual challenges, will be revived as part of efforts to improve transportation infrastructure, ease traffic congestion, and boost economic activity nationwide.
He explained that road infrastructure remains a critical pillar of national development, facilitating trade, connecting farming communities to markets, and improving access to education and healthcare services. Completing these projects, he said, will not only enhance mobility but also stimulate local economies and create employment opportunities.
The President assured that government is working closely with relevant ministries, contractors, and financial institutions to mobilise the necessary resources and ensure timely execution. He added that strict monitoring mechanisms would be put in place to guarantee quality delivery and value for money.
Mr. Mahama further emphasised that the completion of the stalled projects forms part of a broader strategy to modernise Ghana’s transport network and accelerate national growth. He reiterated government’s commitment to prioritising infrastructure development as a key driver of economic transformation.
