The Government of Ghana is seeking to deepen cooperation with Belarus in key sectors such as agriculture and trade, according to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
Speaking during diplomatic engagements between the two countries, the minister said Ghana is interested in expanding bilateral relations with Belarus, particularly in areas that can support agricultural modernisation, technology transfer and increased trade.

Mr. Ablakwa noted that agriculture remains a critical sector for Ghana’s economic development and food security, adding that partnerships with countries that have strong agricultural technology and mechanisation capabilities could significantly improve productivity.
He said Belarus has developed expertise in agricultural machinery production and agro-processing, which presents opportunities for cooperation that could help Ghana transform its farming sector.
According to the minister, Ghana is particularly interested in collaboration in farm mechanisation, irrigation development, fertiliser production and agricultural training programmes.
He added that strengthening trade relations between the two countries would also help diversify Ghana’s export markets while allowing Belarusian companies to explore investment opportunities in Ghana.

Mr. Ablakwa emphasised that the government is committed to building mutually beneficial partnerships that will contribute to economic growth, job creation and sustainable development.
He further indicated that ongoing diplomatic engagements between the two countries are aimed at identifying specific areas of cooperation and facilitating agreements that will enhance economic and technical collaboration.
The Foreign Affairs Minister reaffirmed Ghana’s readiness to work closely with Belarus to expand bilateral relations and unlock new opportunities for both countries in agriculture, trade and other strategic sectors.
