The Office of the Minister of Education has firmly dismissed circulating social media claims suggesting that the Minister harbours ambitions to contest as flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), describing the reports as false, misleading and without basis.
In a statement reacting to the online speculation, the Minister’s office said the claims are a deliberate attempt to misinform the public and drag the Education Minister into partisan political narratives that do not reflect reality. It stressed that the Minister has not expressed any intention, privately or publicly, to seek the NDC’s flagbearership or engage in any internal presidential contest.
According to the statement, the Education Minister remains fully focused on executing government policies and advancing reforms within the education sector, including improving access, quality and outcomes at all levels of learning. Any suggestion that attention is being diverted to personal political ambitions, the office said, is “entirely unfounded.”
The Minister’s office further urged the public to treat unverified social media content with caution, warning that such claims are often driven by political mischief and the desire to create unnecessary controversy. It called on media practitioners and social media users to verify information from credible and official sources before amplifying it.
Reiterating the Minister’s commitment to public service, the statement emphasised that the current priority remains the delivery of results in the education sector, rather than speculation about future political plans.
The clarification comes as political discourse intensifies ahead of upcoming electoral activities, with several public officials increasingly finding themselves at the centre of online speculation. The Education Minister’s office, however, maintains that the claims of NDC flagbearer ambitions are baseless and should be disregarded.
