The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a series of planned maintenance exercises scheduled to take place from February 22 to February 28, warning customers in selected communities to expect temporary power interruptions.
According to the power distribution company, the maintenance works form part of ongoing efforts to improve service delivery, enhance system reliability, and upgrade aging infrastructure across its operational zones.
Purpose of the Planned Maintenance
ECG explained that the scheduled outages are necessary to allow engineers and technical teams to carry out essential works, including network upgrades, transformer replacements, load balancing, and routine servicing of substations.
The company emphasised that although the exercise will result in temporary inconveniences, the long-term benefits include improved voltage stability, reduced unplanned outages, and strengthened power supply reliability.
Customers have been urged to treat all electrical installations as live during the period of the maintenance.
Areas Expected to Be Affected
ECG has indicated that several communities within its operational districts will experience interruptions at different times between February 22 and February 28.

While the specific timelines may vary depending on location, affected areas are expected to include:
Selected communities in parts of Greater Accra Region

Some areas within the Ashanti Region
Portions of the Central Region
Parts of the Eastern Region
Selected communities in other operational districts nationwide
Residents and businesses in the affected zones are advised to take the necessary precautions, including powering down sensitive electrical equipment to avoid damage when supply is restored.
Commitment to Improved Service Delivery
The Electricity Company of Ghana reiterated its commitment to delivering reliable and quality electricity supply to homes and businesses across the country.
The company apologised for the inconvenience the planned outages may cause and assured customers that engineers will work within the shortest possible time to complete the maintenance activities and restore power promptly.
ECG further encouraged customers to follow official communication channels for updates on specific communities, dates, and restoration timelines throughout the week.
