Founder and General Overseer of Action Chapel International, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, has cautioned prophets and religious leaders against blending partisan politics with the interpretation of scripture.
Delivering a sermon to his congregation, the respected cleric stressed that the pulpit must not be used as a platform for political manipulation or partisan advocacy. He warned that misusing biblical texts to advance political interests risks undermining the integrity of the Christian faith and eroding public trust in spiritual leadership.
Archbishop Duncan-Williams emphasised that while the Church has a moral responsibility to speak on national issues and promote righteousness, it must do so with wisdom, neutrality, and spiritual discernment. According to him, prophets are called to deliver messages grounded in truth and divine guidance—not personal opinion or political allegiance.
He noted that the growing trend of prophetic declarations tied to electoral outcomes and political events could mislead congregants and create unnecessary division within the body of Christ. The Archbishop urged fellow ministers to remain focused on their core mandate of preaching salvation, unity, and moral transformation.
The renowned preacher further encouraged clergy to pray for national leaders rather than publicly endorse or condemn them based on political affiliations. He reiterated that the Church’s role is to provide spiritual direction and moral clarity, especially during periods of political tension.
Archbishop Duncan-Williams concluded by calling for maturity, restraint, and accountability within the prophetic ministry, reminding religious leaders that their words carry significant influence and must therefore be handled with utmost responsibility.
