The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has firmly denied allegations that it has provided financial sponsorship to the Black Stars, describing the claims as inaccurate and misleading.
In a statement addressing the reports, COCOBOD clarified that it has not committed any funds toward sponsoring the national football team. The Board emphasised that its core mandate remains the regulation, promotion, and development of Ghana’s cocoa sector, and not sports sponsorship.
The management explained that while COCOBOD supports initiatives that promote national development and economic growth, it has not entered into any agreement to sponsor the Black Stars. It urged the public to disregard the claims and rely only on verified information from official sources.
COCOBOD further reaffirmed its commitment to improving the livelihoods of cocoa farmers and strengthening the cocoa industry, stressing that its financial resources are dedicated to programmes that directly benefit the sector and contribute to the country’s economic stability.
