The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has strongly denied allegations that it paid GH¢12 million to sponsor the Black Stars, describing the claims as false and misleading.
In a statement issued in response to widespread reports, COCOBOD clarified that it has not made any such financial commitment to the senior national football team. The Board emphasized that no funds have been allocated toward sponsoring the Black Stars and urged the public to disregard the circulating information.
According to COCOBOD, the reports misrepresent the institution’s financial priorities at a time when it is focused on stabilising the cocoa sector and supporting farmers across the country. Management noted that its current resources are directed toward cocoa production, farmer welfare, and ongoing sector reforms.

The Board further stressed that any partnership or sponsorship arrangement involving public funds would follow due process and be communicated transparently to stakeholders.
COCOBOD has therefore called on sections of the media and the general public to verify information before publication, reiterating its commitment to accountability and responsible financial management.
