Students of Bosomtwe Girls Senior High School have earned the honour of representing Ghana at an upcoming international robotics competition in the United States, a development the Minister for Education, , says underscores the value of strategic investments in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education.

The all-girls team secured their place on the global stage after excelling in a national robotics contest, where their innovative project and technical proficiency stood out among competing schools. Their achievement marks a significant milestone not only for the school but also for Ghana’s growing presence in robotics and technology-driven competitions.

Speaking on the development, Dr. Adutwum highlighted that the success of the Bosomtwe Girls team is a direct result of deliberate government efforts to strengthen STEM education across the country. He noted that investments in robotics labs, teacher training, and digital learning infrastructure are beginning to yield tangible results.

“This achievement demonstrates what is possible when we invest intentionally in our young people, especially girls, and provide them with the tools and environment to thrive in STEM,” he said.

The Minister added that Ghana’s education reforms are designed to nurture problem-solving skills and innovation among students, preparing them to compete globally. He expressed confidence that the Bosomtwe Girls team would make the country proud at the competition.

School authorities have also lauded the students for their dedication and hard work, describing their qualification as a testament to discipline, teamwork, and effective mentorship. They emphasized that the opportunity to compete internationally would expose the students to cutting-edge technologies and broaden their horizons.

The upcoming competition in the United States is expected to bring together some of the brightest young minds in robotics from around the world. For the Bosomtwe Girls team, it presents not only a chance to showcase Ghanaian talent but also to gain invaluable experience in a highly competitive environment.

Education stakeholders have welcomed the news, calling it an encouraging sign of progress in efforts to bridge the gender gap in STEM fields. Many believe the team’s success will inspire more girls across the country to pursue careers in science and technology.

As preparations intensify for the competition, the students remain focused and determined, carrying with them the hopes of a nation eager to see them excel on the international stage.
