Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has called on stakeholders to support the emergence of a credible third political force, saying it is essential for deepening democratic governance in Ghana.
Speaking at a political dialogue forum in Accra, Bagbin emphasized that a vibrant democracy requires competition beyond the two dominant parties to ensure accountability, transparency, and wider representation.
He stressed that a third force could prevent political polarization, provide citizens with more choices, and inject fresh ideas into the national discourse.
“Ghana’s democracy will be stronger if we allow new political actors to contribute constructively, rather than being confined to a binary system,” Bagbin said, urging political leaders and civil society to nurture alternative political movements.
Political analysts say Bagbin’s comments could signal growing calls for reforms in Ghana’s political landscape as voters increasingly demand more options and innovative governance solutions.
