A group identifying itself as “Fighters” in the Ayawaso East Constituency has called on residents to vote against the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the upcoming elections over what it describes as a troubling vote-buying scandal.
Addressing supporters at a press briefing, members of the group accused the NDC of attempting to influence voters through monetary inducements and material incentives, a move they say undermines Ghana’s democratic values and the integrity of the electoral process.
According to the group, such alleged actions erode public trust and reduce elections to transactional exercises rather than contests of ideas and policies. They urged constituents to remain vigilant and reject any form of inducement intended to sway their choice at the ballot box.
The “Fighters” stressed that Ayawaso East deserves leadership built on credibility, accountability, and genuine commitment to development—not what they termed “cash-for-votes politics.”
They further appealed to the Electoral Commission and relevant security agencies to thoroughly investigate the allegations and ensure that the electoral process remains free, fair, and transparent.
The NDC is yet to officially respond to the allegations. Meanwhile, political observers say the development could heighten tensions in the constituency as campaigns intensify ahead of the polls.
Residents are being encouraged to prioritize issues of development, youth employment, education, and infrastructure as they prepare to cast their votes.
