Accra is gearing up for three days of culture, creativity and continental pride as AkwaabaFest 2026 is officially set to take place from March 5 to March 7 at the National Theatre in Accra.
Organisers of the highly anticipated festival say this year’s edition promises an immersive celebration of African heritage, bringing together music, dance, fashion, theatre, food and visual arts under one roof. The festival, which has steadily grown into a major cultural attraction, is expected to draw artists, creatives, tourists and culture enthusiasts from across Ghana and the African diaspora.
AkwaabaFest ’26 will feature live performances by top musicians and traditional ensembles, captivating stage plays, poetry and spoken-word sessions, as well as exhibitions showcasing indigenous crafts and contemporary African art. Fashion lovers can also look forward to runway shows spotlighting African designers and textiles, while food vendors serve a wide range of authentic local and continental dishes.
Speaking ahead of the event, organisers said the choice of the National Theatre underscores the festival’s mission to preserve and promote African culture through the arts, while positioning Ghana as a leading destination for cultural tourism.
With just weeks to go, anticipation is building as Accra prepares to welcome guests to what is being described as one of the most vibrant cultural festivals on the 2026 events calendar. AkwaabaFest ’26 is expected to be a colourful showcase of African identity, unity and creativity.
