The Member of Parliament for Dome‑Kwabenya Constituency, Faustina Elikplim Akurugu, has delivered her first-ever State of the Constituency Address (SOCA), outlining progress made in the area since she assumed office and setting out priorities for further development.
The address, which forms part of her commitment to transparency and accountability to residents, brought together community leaders, local officials, and constituents to review ongoing projects and discuss the future direction of the constituency. The initiative mirrors the national State of the Nation Address and is aimed at ensuring that constituents remain informed about governance and development efforts within the area.
During her presentation, the MP highlighted a range of development gains achieved across sectors such as infrastructure, health, education, and community safety. She noted that several interventions had been initiated to address longstanding concerns raised by residents, including improvements to local facilities and efforts to strengthen public services.
Among the projects cited were initiatives to enhance public safety and community infrastructure, including the installation of streetlights and other measures designed to improve living conditions and support economic activity in various communities across the constituency. These efforts, she said, are part of broader initiatives aimed at boosting development and addressing critical needs identified during community engagements.
Madam Akurugu also stressed that the SOCA would become an annual platform to assess progress, encourage citizen participation, and allow residents to directly share concerns and suggestions with their elected representative. According to her, inclusive governance and constant engagement with the people are key to sustaining development in the constituency.
She urged residents, community organisations, and stakeholders to continue collaborating with her office to ensure that projects are effectively implemented and that emerging challenges are addressed promptly. The MP reaffirmed her commitment to improving the quality of life for constituents through targeted development initiatives and stronger partnerships with government agencies and development partners.
The Dome-Kwabenya seat, located in the Ga East area of the Greater Accra Region, has in recent years seen heightened political and developmental attention following its historic electoral shift and growing population.
The State of the Constituency Address is expected to become a key accountability tool for the MP as she works with residents to chart a new path for growth and transformation in Dome-Kwabenya.
