An Accra Circuit Court has granted bail in the sum of GH¢50,000 each to two men accused of robbery and dishonestly receiving stolen property.
The accused — one facing charges of robbery and the other charged with receiving stolen items — appeared before the court amid heightened interest in the case. Prosecutors told the court that the alleged offences occurred within the Accra metropolis and involved the unlawful taking of personal belongings from a complainant.
According to the prosecution, the first accused is alleged to have carried out the robbery, while the second is said to have knowingly received and kept items suspected to have been stolen. Both men have denied the charges.
In granting bail, the court ordered each accused person to provide two sureties, one of whom must be justified. They are also required to report to the police at designated intervals as part of their bail conditions.
The presiding judge emphasised that the accused persons are to make themselves available for trial and comply strictly with the conditions attached to their bail. The case has been adjourned to a later date for further hearing.
Prosecutors indicated that investigations are ongoing and assured the court that they are working to present all necessary evidence when proceedings resume.
