Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has criticized FIFA over its response to concerns surrounding the reported visa refusal involving Black Stars midfielder Thomas Partey ahead of Ghana’s international engagements.

Speaking on the matter, Adams expressed disappointment with what he described as FIFA’s inadequate handling of the issue, arguing that the global football governing body should have taken stronger steps to address concerns raised by Ghanaian football authorities and supporters.

The controversy emerged after reports suggested that immigration and visa-related challenges could affect Partey’s participation in activities linked to Ghana’s preparations and international fixtures. The situation sparked widespread debate among football fans, with many questioning whether enough had been done to facilitate the player’s travel arrangements.

According to Adams, FIFA has a responsibility to ensure that administrative and immigration challenges do not unfairly hinder players from representing their countries, especially during major international competitions. He noted that football’s governing bodies must work closely with host nations and relevant authorities to prevent such situations from affecting teams and athletes.

The Sports Minister further stressed that players should not be placed at a disadvantage because of bureaucratic processes beyond their control. He called for greater transparency and proactive engagement from FIFA whenever issues of this nature arise.

Adams’ remarks have added to growing discussions about the role of international football authorities in supporting players facing travel restrictions and visa complications. The issue has drawn significant attention as national teams continue preparations for upcoming competitions and international matches.

While FIFA has yet to provide further clarification beyond its initial response, Ghanaian football stakeholders are expected to continue monitoring developments closely, with hopes that any outstanding concerns surrounding Partey’s situation will be resolved promptly.

The debate has once again highlighted the challenges that visa and immigration regulations can pose to international sport, particularly as teams and players travel across different jurisdictions for competitions and tournaments.
