Mining firm Heath Goldfields has unveiled a major $20 million development initiative aimed at transforming communities within the Prestea-Huni Valley Municipality in the Western Region.
The ambitious plan, according to the company, is designed to support infrastructure development, job creation, education, healthcare, and sustainable community projects as part of its long-term commitment to responsible mining and community empowerment.
Company officials disclosed the initiative during an engagement with local authorities, traditional leaders, and residents, where they outlined plans to improve living conditions and strengthen economic opportunities in the area.
Speaking at the event, representatives of Heath Goldfields noted that the investment forms part of the company’s broader vision to ensure that host communities directly benefit from mining activities. They stressed that the development programme would focus on key sectors including roads, schools, health facilities, youth employment, and skills training.
The company also pledged to work closely with the Prestea-Huni Valley Municipal Assembly and traditional authorities to identify priority projects that would have lasting impact on residents.
Community leaders welcomed the announcement and expressed optimism that the initiative would help address longstanding developmental challenges confronting the municipality.
Residents are expected to benefit from improved social amenities and increased economic activity once the projects begin implementation.
Heath Goldfields further reaffirmed its commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible resource extraction, assuring stakeholders that community welfare remains central to its operations.
The $20 million investment is expected to be rolled out in phases over the coming years as the company expands its activities within the municipality.
