The Greater Accra Regional Minister has expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) across the region, following a monitoring exercise at several examination centres.

During a tour of selected schools, the Minister observed that the exams were generally peaceful, well-organised, and free from major incidents. Candidates were seen adhering to examination rules, while invigilators and supervisors carried out their duties professionally.

The Minister commended officials of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) for the improved coordination and strict enforcement of guidelines aimed at preventing malpractice. According to the Minister, the enhanced measures have helped ensure the integrity and credibility of the examination process.

He also praised the security personnel deployed to various centres, noting that their presence contributed significantly to maintaining order and discipline throughout the examination period.

Interacting with some candidates, the Minister encouraged them to remain calm and focused, urging them to rely on their preparation rather than resort to any form of cheating. He assured them that the government remains committed to improving the education sector and creating a fair environment for all students.

The Minister further highlighted the importance of collaboration between education authorities, school administrators, and parents in ensuring the success of national examinations like the BECE.

While acknowledging minor logistical challenges reported in a few centres, he noted that they were promptly addressed and did not disrupt the smooth conduct of the exams.

Overall, the Minister described the situation as encouraging and expressed optimism that the outcomes of this year’s BECE would reflect the hard work of both students and teachers across the Greater Accra Region.
