The Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), in collaboration with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), has held strategic discussions with HMN Company over a proposed investment in an electric vehicle (EV) assembly plant in Ghana.
The high-level engagement forms part of efforts to position Ghana as a key hub for electric vehicle manufacturing in West Africa, while also advancing the country’s broader industrialisation agenda.
During the meeting, officials explored HMN Company’s plans to establish an EV assembly facility that would serve not only the Ghanaian market but also the wider sub-region. The initiative aligns with Ghana’s ambition to attract high-value investments and promote sustainable, clean mobility solutions.
GIPC reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating the investment process, assuring the company of its readiness to provide the necessary support to ensure a smooth setup. The Centre emphasised Ghana’s favourable investment climate, highlighting political stability, a growing economy, and a business-friendly environment as key advantages for investors.
On its part, the GRA pledged to offer clear regulatory guidance and ensure compliance with tax requirements, stressing its role in supporting investors through transparent and efficient processes. Both institutions underscored their willingness to work closely with HMN Company throughout the various stages of the project.
The proposed EV assembly plant is expected to complement Ghana’s Automotive Development Policy, which seeks to establish the country as a leading vehicle manufacturing hub in the region. Government incentives, including tax holidays and duty exemptions on imported components, have already been introduced to attract such investments.
If successfully implemented, the project is anticipated to boost Ghana’s emerging electric vehicle ecosystem, create jobs, and contribute to the country’s climate goals by promoting environmentally friendly transportation.
HMN Company is expected to submit a detailed proposal in the coming weeks, as discussions progress towards finalising the investment.
