The Parliamentary Select Committee on Energy has expressed strong support for the Ghana National Gas Company (Ghana Gas), commending the organisation for significant improvements in its operational performance and contribution to Ghana’s energy sector.
The Committee, following an oversight visit and briefing with management of the company, noted that Ghana Gas has demonstrated greater efficiency in recent years, particularly in the processing and transportation of natural gas for power generation.
Members of the Committee praised the company’s efforts in enhancing gas supply reliability to power plants, which has helped improve electricity generation stability and reduce instances of power interruptions linked to fuel shortages.
They also highlighted ongoing infrastructure upgrades and maintenance works, which they said have strengthened the company’s capacity to meet national energy demands.
Speaking after the engagement, members of the Committee indicated that Ghana Gas had shown improved financial management and operational discipline, which they described as critical to sustaining the country’s energy security.
The Committee further encouraged management to continue investing in technical capacity and infrastructure expansion to support growing demand from the power sector and other industrial users.
For its part, Ghana Gas management assured the Committee of its commitment to maintaining high operational standards and ensuring uninterrupted gas supply to support Ghana’s energy needs.
The company also reiterated its focus on safety, efficiency, and sustainability as it works to expand its role in the national energy value chain.
The Energy Committee’s endorsement is seen as a boost for Ghana Gas as it continues to position itself as a key player in the country’s power generation and energy infrastructure development agenda.
