Two individuals have been arrested by the Ghana Police Service in connection with a suspected robbery plot targeting an Indian national in Obuasi in the Ashanti Region.
According to police sources, the suspects were picked up following intelligence gathered on their alleged plan to attack and rob the foreign national, who is believed to be involved in business activities within the mining town. The operation, which was carried out by a team of officers after days of surveillance, led to the arrest of the two before the alleged plan could be executed.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects had been monitoring the movements of the intended victim and were in the advanced stages of planning the robbery. Police say items believed to be connected to the planned operation were retrieved during the arrest, although details of these items have not yet been fully disclosed.

The Indian national, whose identity has been withheld for security reasons, is reported to be safe and has since been briefed by the police on the development.
Authorities have assured the public of their commitment to maintaining security, particularly for both citizens and foreign nationals engaged in legitimate business activities in the country. They also urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
The two suspects are currently in custody assisting with investigations and are expected to be arraigned before court in the coming days.
The Ghana Police Service reiterated its resolve to clamp down on criminal activities and ensure that individuals involved in such acts are brought to justice.
