James Kwesi Appiah rejects claims of talks over Black Stars job

Former Ghana head coach has dismissed reports suggesting he is in discussions to return as coach of the .

Speculation over the coaching position of the Black Stars has intensified in recent weeks following uncertainty surrounding the future of current head coach . This has led to widespread rumours linking several coaches, including Appiah, to the role.

However, in a firm response, Appiah has denied holding any talks with the regarding a possible return to the national team setup. According to him, the reports circulating in sections of the media are untrue and should be disregarded.

“I have not spoken to anyone about the Black Stars job,” Appiah clarified, stressing that he remains focused on his current commitments and has not been approached by the football governing body.

Appiah, who previously managed the Black Stars in two separate stints, remains one of the most experienced local coaches in Ghana. He famously led the team to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil and later guided Ghana to the semi-finals of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

His name often resurfaces whenever there is uncertainty surrounding the national team coaching role, largely due to his familiarity with the team and his track record in Ghanaian football.

Despite his denial, the debate over who should lead the Black Stars continues to dominate discussions among fans and pundits, especially as the team looks to rebuild and improve its performances in upcoming international competitions.

For now, Appiah has made it clear that he is not part of any ongoing negotiations, leaving the to determine the future direction of the national team coaching setup.
