Ghana’s U-15 girls team, the Black Damsels, are set for a crucial clash against Zambia in the semi-finals of the CAF African Schools Football Championship, as they continue their quest to defend their continental title.
The much-anticipated encounter is scheduled for Thursday, April 9, at the Gateway High School in Harare, Zimbabwe, where the final stages of the tournament are being held.
Ghana booked their place in the last four after an impressive group stage campaign. Despite suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Burkina Faso in their final Group B match, the Black Damsels had already done enough to progress, thanks to earlier victories over Guinea and Tanzania.
Their dominant start to the tournament included a resounding 6-0 win against Guinea, followed by a crucial victory over Tanzania, which ultimately secured their semi-final qualification.
Zambia, however, head into the semi-final as one of the strongest sides in the competition, having topped their group with a perfect record. Their consistent performances make them formidable opponents in what is expected to be a tightly contested match.
Ghana, who are the defending champions of the girls’ competition, will be aiming to bounce back from their recent setback and maintain their title defence. A win over Zambia would see them advance to the final, where they will have the opportunity to retain the trophy they won in 2025.
The CAF African Schools Football Championship, launched in 2022, is designed to promote and develop grassroots football across the continent, providing a platform for young talents to showcase their abilities on a continental stage.
With a place in the final at stake, all eyes will be on the Black Damsels as they seek to overcome Zambia and edge closer to another historic triumph.
