The Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) has marked its 65th anniversary with calls from government officials and alumni for a renewed emphasis on digital transformation and enhanced training for public service.
During the anniversary celebrations in Accra, key speakers highlighted the critical role of the institute in shaping competent public sector leaders and equipping them with skills to navigate the increasingly digital and data-driven environment.
Government representatives, including ministers and senior public service officials, emphasized the need for GIMPA to leverage technology to modernize public administration and improve service delivery across the country. They encouraged the institute to expand digital learning platforms, introduce innovative curricula, and strengthen research initiatives that address contemporary governance challenges.
Alumni, many of whom hold prominent positions in government, business, and civil society, also stressed the importance of maintaining GIMPA’s reputation as a hub for professional excellence. They urged the institute to foster collaboration between the public and private sectors, ensuring that its programs remain relevant and impactful in developing future leaders.
Professor Anthony Owusu, Rector of GIMPA, reiterated the institute’s commitment to innovation, noting that the anniversary is not only a celebration of its past achievements but also a catalyst for future transformation. “As we mark 65 years, we must embrace digital tools, enhance our teaching methodologies, and deepen our focus on public service excellence. Our goal is to produce leaders who are ready to meet the complex demands of the 21st century,” he said.
The GIMPA@65 celebrations included lectures, panel discussions, and exhibitions showcasing the institute’s achievements in education, research, and public sector training.
