Media personality Mawuko Kuadzi has questioned the involvement of musicians Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale in football-related matters, urging stakeholders to instead consider the creative arts sector as a potential source of fundraising to support the sport.
Speaking during a discussion on sports development, Kuadzi asked why the two popular Ghanaian music stars were frequently being drawn into conversations surrounding football administration and financing. According to him, while celebrities can play a role in promoting national causes, the focus should be on structured initiatives that bring together the creative arts industry to raise funds for football.
He suggested that Ghana’s music and entertainment industry has a strong following and commercial value that could be harnessed through concerts, charity events, and collaborations designed specifically to support football development.
Kuadzi argued that a well-organized creative arts fundraiser could generate significant revenue while also strengthening the relationship between sports and entertainment in Ghana. He noted that major musicians such as Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale have large fan bases locally and internationally, which could be leveraged positively if properly coordinated.
The broadcaster further emphasized that football authorities and stakeholders should explore innovative funding models beyond traditional sponsorship and government support. Bringing together artists, actors, and other creatives, he said, could open new financial avenues for grassroots football, talent development, and infrastructure.
His comments come amid ongoing discussions about how to sustainably fund football activities and improve the overall management of the sport in the country. Kuadzi maintained that instead of debating what individual artists have to do with football, the conversation should shift toward building partnerships between the sports and creative sectors for mutual benefit.
