Three people narrowly escaped injury after a diesel tanker truck overturned in the Oti Region, causing a temporary disruption to traffic and raising safety concerns among residents in the area.

The incident occurred on a major road within the region when the truck, which was transporting diesel fuel, reportedly lost control and overturned along the roadside. According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle appeared to struggle to maintain balance before eventually tipping over, spilling part of its contents and blocking a section of the road.

Despite the severity of the accident, the driver and two other occupants of the truck managed to escape without injuries. Bystanders who rushed to the scene helped ensure the occupants were safely removed from the vehicle before emergency responders arrived.

Officials from the Ghana Police Service and other emergency teams later arrived to secure the area and control traffic while efforts were made to clear the overturned tanker from the road. Authorities also worked to prevent possible hazards associated with the diesel spill, including fire risks and environmental damage.

Residents in the vicinity expressed relief that no lives were lost, noting that accidents involving fuel tankers can often have devastating consequences. Some community members also called for improved road safety measures and stricter monitoring of heavy-duty vehicles traveling through the region.

Preliminary information suggests that the accident may have been caused by loss of control, although authorities say investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances that led to the truck overturning.

Meanwhile, road users have been advised to exercise caution when traveling through the affected area as cleanup operations continue and officials work to restore normal traffic flow.
