A heavy rainstorm that swept through parts of the has caused widespread power outages in several communities, leaving many residents without electricity.
The storm, which occurred on Saturday evening, was accompanied by strong winds and intense rainfall that disrupted electricity supply in a number of towns and surrounding areas. Residents reported that power went off shortly after the rains intensified, with some localities experiencing fallen trees and damaged electricity lines.
Communities in areas such as , , and were among those affected by the outages. The sudden blackout disrupted businesses and household activities, forcing many residents to rely on alternative sources of lighting.

Some residents also reported minor property damage caused by the strong winds, including roofs being partially ripped off and signboards being blown down. Although no casualties had been reported as of Sunday morning, local authorities urged residents to remain cautious as cleanup efforts continue.
The (ECG) said its technical teams had been deployed to assess the extent of the damage and begin repair works to restore power to affected communities.
According to the power distributor, the outages were largely caused by fallen tree branches and storm-related damage to power lines and electrical equipment. Engineers are currently working to clear debris and fix damaged infrastructure to ensure electricity supply is restored as quickly as possible.
ECG also advised residents to stay away from fallen electricity cables and report any electrical faults to the company’s nearest office or customer service lines.
Residents across the affected areas are hopeful that electricity will be fully restored once repair works are completed, as many businesses continue to count losses from the temporary power disruption.
