The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kwadaso, Richmond Agyenim Boateng, has called on residents to work closely with the police and other security agencies to help combat the growing wave of crime within the municipality.

According to the MCE, community participation is critical in maintaining law and order, stressing that security cannot be the sole responsibility of the police. He urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the authorities promptly.

Mr. Boateng made the call during a community engagement meeting with residents, traditional leaders and local stakeholders aimed at addressing security concerns in the area. He noted that the Assembly is committed to supporting the police with the necessary logistics to enhance their operations.

“Security is a shared responsibility. The police alone cannot be everywhere at all times, so residents must partner with them by providing timely information that can help prevent crime,” he said.

The MCE expressed concern about increasing reports of theft, robbery and other criminal activities in some communities within the municipality, adding that proactive collaboration between residents and security agencies is the most effective way to tackle the issue.

He also encouraged communities to strengthen neighbourhood watch groups and maintain regular communication with the police to improve response times during emergencies.

Mr. Boateng further assured residents that the Kwadaso Municipal Assembly will continue to support security initiatives, including improving street lighting and assisting with resources to help the police maintain safety.

Local police officials present at the meeting also urged the public to avoid shielding criminals within their communities, emphasizing that information sharing plays a vital role in preventing crime.

Residents welcomed the initiative and pledged to cooperate with the police and the Assembly to ensure that Kwadaso remains safe for everyone.

The engagement forms part of the Assembly’s broader efforts to deepen community policing and strengthen collaboration between residents and security agencies in addressing crime.
