SIC Insurance PLC has hosted a delegation from the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration between academia and corporate Ghana.
The delegation, led by the Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research, Innovation and Knowledge Transfer at UPSA, Prof. Samuel Antwi, paid a working visit to the company where they were received by the Managing Director of SIC Insurance PLC, Mr. James Agyenim-Boateng.
The meeting focused on exploring opportunities for partnership between the insurance firm and the university, particularly in areas such as innovation, mentorship, and professional development for students. Both parties emphasised the importance of building stronger links between academic institutions and industry to better prepare students for the demands of the job market.
During the discussions, Mr. Agyenim-Boateng highlighted SIC Insurance’s commitment to supporting the development of young professionals in Ghana. He noted that partnerships with institutions like UPSA play a crucial role in bridging the gap between theoretical academic knowledge and practical industry experience.
According to him, collaboration between the corporate sector and universities can help nurture the next generation of professionals and leaders who are equipped with the skills required to contribute meaningfully to national development.
The UPSA delegation also expressed optimism about the prospects of the partnership, noting that stronger engagement with corporate organisations will enhance research opportunities, knowledge transfer, and practical learning for students.
They emphasised that closer ties between universities and industry can lead to the creation of impactful programmes that support skills development, career readiness, and innovation.
The meeting forms part of ongoing efforts by both institutions to promote collaboration that benefits students, businesses, and the wider economy.
By strengthening academia-corporate relationships, stakeholders believe Ghana can better align educational outcomes with industry needs, ultimately helping to produce graduates who are well-prepared to thrive in the professional world.
