The Chairman of the McDan Group of Companies, Mr. Daniel McKorley, has made a significant contribution to the development of young people in the Volta Region, donating GH¢200,000 to the Volta Youth Development Fund during the Volta YouthFest. McKorley, who was the guest speaker at the event, emphasized the importance of practical support over mere rhetoric, committing to make this an annual contribution.
Addressing the youth, he said, “We are here for impact. Joint creation is our ultimate. We are here to create a difference. We are here to move the youth to the next level. You are the future of the Volta Region.” He lauded the region as a hub of human skill, noting its immense potential and urging young people to recognize and develop their talents.
Beyond the donation, McKorley revealed plans to mentor and financially support selected entrepreneurs from the region to help advance their businesses. He stressed that this GH¢200,000 donation is only the beginning of sustained support, underscoring the McDan Group’s commitment to youth empowerment.
The McDan Foundation, his philanthropic arm, has a longstanding record of supporting communities across Ghana. It has constructed school blocks, funded over 300 tertiary students through its scholarship scheme, and launched entrepreneurship initiatives like the McDan Entrepreneurship Challenge and Youth Connect programme. Previous projects include the Alkoh Shea Butter Factory in the North East Region and business funding for students in Kumasi.
McKorley has also provided relief during crises, including food donations to widows in Accra and rice donations during Ramadan in 2020. His efforts have earned him traditional titles, recognizing his contributions to youth development and community empowerment in various regions of Ghana.
Through this latest initiative, McKorley continues to demonstrate his commitment to nurturing the Volta Region’s human capital, positioning it as a key hub for skills and entrepreneurship in Ghana.
