Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso, Dr. Stephen Amoah, has admitted that the camp of Kennedy Ohene Agyapong is yet to conduct a full assessment of the factors behind the outspoken politician’s loss in the recent New Patriotic Party (NPP) primaries.
Speaking after the conclusion of the internal elections, Dr. Amoah noted that emotions were still high and that it would be premature to draw conclusions about why Ken Agyapong failed to secure victory. According to him, a thorough review would be undertaken in due course to understand what worked, what did not, and the lessons to be drawn from the contest.
“We haven’t yet analysed what happened,” he stated, stressing the need for calm reflection rather than rushed judgments. He explained that internal elections are complex and influenced by multiple dynamics, including strategy, messaging, organisation, and party sentiment at the time.
Dr. Amoah also emphasized that despite the setback, Ken Agyapong remains a formidable force within the NPP, with significant grassroots support and influence. He urged party members to focus on unity going forward, rather than deepening divisions through blame or speculation.
His comments come amid widespread debate within the party, as supporters and critics alike dissect the outcome of the primaries and what it means for the NPP’s future direction.
As the dust settles, Dr. Amoah said the priority should be reconciliation and collective effort, adding that the party’s ultimate goal must be winning national power. For now, he insists, the time for analysis will come—but unity must come first.
